Ngorongoro Wild Camp is located in the south of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, about 50 kilometers south-west of Karatu town. This spot makes it an ideal midway stop for travelers heading to Tarangire, Serengeti National Park, or the Lake Natron area. The camp is a permanent tented camp with 20 comfortable luxury tents and 6 cottages, each built to fit 2 guests. Every tent has a private shower and toilet, comfortable beds, a reading table, and a private veranda. Solar power provides light and hot water, so guests enjoy comfort while staying close to nature.
Ngorongoro Wild Camp offers a warm, friendly atmosphere with many activities and facilities. Guests can enjoy meals at the multi-cuisine restaurant or relax at the African-theme bar. Sundowner cocktails, bush breakfasts, and bush barbecue dinners let guests enjoy the outdoors in style. At night, guests can sit by the campfire and share stories about the day’s adventures. The camp also arranges game drives into the famous Ngorongoro Crater, home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino.
The camp sits close to the highland forest that lines the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. This forest is thick and green, home to elephants, buffalo, and leopards that move quietly between the trees. Above the treetops, you may spot colorful turacos and other forest birds. Below, on the crater floor, wide grasslands support huge herds of wildebeest and zebra during their annual migration, while Maasai herders graze their cattle alongside the wild animals, just as they have for generations.
